Kids of First Responders

Supporting heroes even when they don't feel like heroes.

We understand there's a unique culture with first responders and the challenges they face often blur lines between work and home life. Our therapists have specialized experience in working with first responder families and we engage in ongoing education to expand our knowledge of the impacts. This strengthens our capacity to build rapport, establish trust, and provide effective treatment when less effort is required from patients in explaining their jobs.

Some of our ongoing education involves:

  • attending ride-alongs

  • learning the language and abbreviations

  • understanding ranks and promotion processes

  • advancing trauma treatment skills

  • communication with services to identify areas of need
